Volunteer Opportunities

Service Dogs Alabama relies on kind-hearted animal lovers to assist in the raising, socializing and transporting of our service dogs-in-training. If you have a desire to help make a difference in the lives of children and veterans with disabilities and can commit to caring for a dog or puppy for 3-6 months and attend bi-monthly training sessions, we would love to talk to you!  We need volunteers in the following areas:

Puppy Raisers
We need dedicated volunteers to raise puppies in their homes for the sole purpose of preparing dogs to enter into the formal training program.

Socializers/Trainers
Once dogs complete Phase ONE of their training at the Correctional Facility, they must be re-introduced to real-world and everyday social situations. The dog would be approximately 1 year old, be house broken, and know enough commands to be able to go into public.

Transporters
SDA is a statewide organization and must transport dogs frequently between our kennels in Hope Hull, AL and our kennels in Cullman, AL. We also use transporters to pick up puppies and transport them to us from approved breeders.
